Thank you for this, Mike ! I was a senior in high school when I was watching a NY Rangers game on WOR-9. In between periods or during a commercial break, I hear the play by play announcer saying "...and tickets for The Cream Farewell Concert at MSG are...sold out", before I even had time to get out of my chair for a pen & paper to jot down any info. I was bummed. Didn't miss Blind Faith the next summer...or the reunion in Oct 2005 !

Thank you for this compilation. It's a labor of love and greatly appreciated. A towering performance by one of the greatest bands of all time. All three of them are great, but for me the standout is Jack's singing, which is superb.

So the Yardbirds shaped this 'rave up' sort of jam style, these three became the best proponents because of the raw talent. The notion that the Yardbirds weren't 'trad' enough for Clapton seems such a ruse. Here in Cream he plays with the abandon of Jeff Beck. Jack and Ginger gave him canvas on which to paint. The single pickup Firebird is so perfect for this, and Jack and Ginger have never been equaled. Thanks for this, I missed them at the Grande, but my step mother worked at a trendy sporting goods store in Birmingham just north of Detroit. These fellows came shopping and she asked them to leave because they looked like ner'do wells. Someone else working at the shop said, "Do you know who you just tossed out?" She didn't.

I was 13 and had seats close to the revolving stage. Almost caught a broken drum stick flung out into the crowd by Ginger. Immediately went out and bought Wheels of Fire.

Whoever wrote "one last concert tour" thing could have just simply stopped at the first paragraph. " - and then they got together to play the world sounds it had never heard before..." Period. You can't analyze it. You can't philosophize about it any farther. Or make your own haphazard conjecture as to whatever happens later. You just don't know and neither will anybody else. Not ever. It's as simple, or as very involved as that. There's nothing more you can do or say.

This jazz band was Ginger's idea. As Jack tells it, Eric was playing the role of Eric Dolphy, but they never told him.
